Marisa Alder, LCSW

Marisa is a Certified Social Worker who received her Master’s degree from The University of Utah. She specializes in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, faith transitions, anxiety/depression, ADHD/OCD and youth, young adults and adults. For her, connection, authenticity, open-mindedness and mutual respect are core values. She is passionate about making therapy feel human through tailoring her approach to meet each person she works with where they are at. Marisa believes that understanding ourselves, our feelings and our needs is a necessary part of liberating ourselves from shame. She uses frameworks from CBT, ACT, ERP and DBT.

Marisa identifies on the asexual spectrum and is a cisgender woman with she/her pronouns. Marisa became a social worker because she is passionate about social justice and mental health, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what she is interested in. Some keywords include cats, thrifting, camping, self-expression, art, video games, creativity, anything neon and science/history.
