April Jensen, Student Intern

April Jensen is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) student intern at Utah Valley University. She practices from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, emphasizing empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. April is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and those navigating faith transitions or religious trauma. She provides a safe, affirming space for clients exploring complex questions of identity, belief, and belonging, and helps them reconnect with their inner values and self-trust. April’s goal is to walk alongside clients in their healing process, offering respect, acceptance, and encouragement.

As a dedicated ally and advocate, April draws on her personal experience as a mother to LGBTQ+ children, including lesbian and non-binary individuals. She is deeply committed to creating inclusive spaces that honor the full spectrum of sexuality and gender. April previously served as a pediatric medical assistant in Orem for over ten years, during which time she developed a deep compassion for families and youth. Now, she brings that same heart and purpose to her clinical work, offering care to those affected by cultural and systemic challenges in Utah.
