Cat Kiene, Student Intern

Hello! I’m Catherine, better known as Cat (she/her). I’m a Social Work intern and graduate

student at Arizona State University. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of

Utah, where I specialized in Media Rhetoric and Documentary Film.

Through a unique lens, I’ve learned that everyone has a story, and many stories include strife, pain, loneliness, and moments of disempowerment. My strength is meticulous research to best understand contributing conditions that impact both the individual and the systems of support. I’ve approached my field experience working with both a clinical framework and an understanding of the lived realities of those facing barriers to care. My ethos for therapeutic interventions is founded in intersectional care that fosters self-empowerment and increased resilience.

When I’m not doing homework, I love being outside with my dog, Dolly, going to music festivals, and baking sourdough bread. I also love hosting craft nights, studying astrology and tarot, and I believe going dancing is one of the best medicines! In my free time, I love watching movies, listening to music, attending concerts, seeing plays and musicals, and relaxing at home.
