Christina Rogers, MFT Intern

Hello there! I'm Christina and my pronouns are she/her. I am currently enrolled in a masters program in marriage and family therapy at National University. I believe that everyone deserves to have a safe space to share their experiences, explore who they are, who they want to become and have unconditional support in achieving their goals.

As a queer woman, I aim to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for others in the LGBTQ+ community, their family members and supports to learn, grow and heal. I am currently working as a supportive housing counselor in a permanent supportive housing program in downtown Salt Lake City with individuals who have substance use and mental health disorders.

I have about 10 years of experience working in the field of substance use recovery and treatment both in Massachusetts and Utah, this is an area I am very passionate about. I bring an approach focused in DBT, CBT, solution-focused therapy and family system therapy. I place a strong emphasis on empowerment with my clients, building healthy relationship dynamics and learning about coping with emotions in healthy ways.

I moved from Massachusetts to Utah in 2016 without really knowing what I was in for when it came to building roots and a new home so far away from home. Now that I am settled here, I am grateful to have a wonderful tribe of supportive friends and I am excited to begin my career as a marriage and family therapist. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in nature, with friends, with my two dogs Calvin & Hobbes (who may pop into a virtual session from time to time) and trying different and new local restaurants or coffee shops.
