Lindsay Dalton, Student Intern

I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern, currently pursuing my master's degree at Rocky Mountain University. I am passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly here in Utah, where a unique intersection of faith and identity exists due to the local culture. As an adult, I was diagnosed with ADHD and discovered my own sexuality of being on the ace spectrum. Because of this, I have a deep understanding and empathy for those seeking to understand themselves and their own identities, however that may look.

I believe change occurs from a place of acceptance, feeling heard, and unconditional empathy. That belief, alongside my professional background in music and writing, inspires me to bring creativity, person-centeredness, non-judgment, and a holistic approach to working with my clients. I also seek to gain insight into the "whys" behind our own struggles, as that understanding brings illumination and answers that help us better manage our problems.

As an intern, I am still developing my own unique approach to therapy. However, I am particularly drawn to DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), Narrative Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I also am interested in incorporating music and the arts into my therapy sessions.

In my free time, I love writing novels, creating video games, playing the piano, and spending time with my perfect pug, Gus.
