Lindsay Newton, Student Intern
Hi, I’m Lindsay (she/her). I am currently completing my master’s degree in Counseling
Psychology with a concentration in Transpersonal Psychology at Meridian University. I was born
and raised in Salt Lake City and continue to call Utah home. My own experiences of growing up
LDS, later stepping away from the faith, and being part of the queer community have given me a
personal appreciation for the ways identity, spirituality, culture, and belonging can intersect. I’m
excited to bring that perspective to my work as a therapist with Flourish.
Before entering the counseling field, I spent eight years as an educator, facilitating a classroom focused on social and emotional development. My students taught me the importance of relationship, curiosity, humor, and meeting people where they are. Nearly two decades working as a massage therapist deepened my appreciation for the ways stress, trauma, emotion, and lived experience can be held and manifest in our bodies.
My approach to therapy is warm, curious, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that people already carry tremendous wisdom within themselves. I am particularly drawn to working with people navigating questions of identity, belonging, spirituality, faith, and meaning. I have a deep interest in supporting LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and those moving through religious trauma or faith transitions, existential crises or awakenings, and other experiences that can leave us questioning who we are and how we want to live.
My training in Transpersonal Psychology has also shaped my belief that therapy can make room for the whole person. Alongside our psychological and relational experiences, I welcome exploration of the body, spirituality, meaning, identity, and the experiences that can be difficult to put into words. I draw from somatic awareness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and other approaches that invite curiosity rather than judgment. I don’t see therapy as a place where I hold all the answers. Instead, I hope to create a space where we can slow down, become curious about what is happening within you, and explore what healing and authenticity might look like on your own terms.
Outside of work, I love traveling, live music, breakfast burritos, going on walks, and spending time with my wife and two kiddos. I’m happiest when there’s room for adventure, dance parties, howling at the moon, and a healthy amount of lollygagging.

Internal Family Systems (IFS): We all have different parts of ourselves that show up at different times. IFS helps us understand these parts with curiosity and compassion instead of criticism.
Narrative Therapy: Exploring the stories we tell about ourselves and discovering new ways of understanding our experiences, strengths, and possibilities.
Transpersonal Psychology: A holistic, client-centered approach that honors the interconnectedness of mind, body, relationships, and spirit. This perspective supports clients in exploring meaning, personal growth, resilience, identity, and their innate capacity for healing.
