Sara McCarty, Student Intern
Sara is a client-centered therapist who believes meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted. Her approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and collaboration, helping clients build on their existing strengths while navigating life's challenges. She draws from evidence-based practices including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), harm reduction, and trauma-informed care, tailoring treatment to each individual's unique needs and goals.
Sara has a particular passion for working with individuals navigating co-occurring mental health concerns, life transitions, and identity development. She believes that healing is most effective when clients are met with curiosity rather than judgment, and she strives to create a space where clients feel safe and empowered to explore their experiences, define wellness for themselves, and move toward lives that align with their values.
Sara's style is warm and down-to-earth. She balances empathy with honesty and believes that therapy doesn't have to feel overly clinical to be effective. She values the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth and works to create an environment where clients can show up exactly as they are.
Whether you're seeking support during a difficult season, working through relationship or identity questions, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, Sara is committed to walking alongside you with respect, compassion, and genuine care.
