Mimi Marrero, Student Intern
Hello, my name is Mimi, and I’m a social work intern currently pursuing my master’s degree at
Utah Valley University.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that we are all human beings trying to make sense of our lives and create the best experience we can with the tools, histories, identities, and circumstances we have. I see therapy as a collaborative, human-to-human process. My goal is to create a supportive and honest environment where clients feel respected, understood, and able to show up as their full selves.
I am especially interested in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, BIPOC individuals, and people navigating OCD, depression, identity development, and major life transitions. I grew up in Los Angeles and bring a deep appreciation for cultural complexity, chosen family, community, and the many ways people learn to survive, adapt, and belong.
My clinical approach draws from trauma-informed care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strengths-based practice, person-in-environment perspectives, and Internal Family Systems-informed work. I am also pursuing additional training in Gottman Method-informed relationship work and AASECT-aligned sex therapy education.
Outside of therapy, I’m a schnauzer dog and Sphynx cat person. I also value creativity, advocacy, and the small moments of joy that can exist alongside healing and growth.
