Kristen Schmitt, CSW

Kristen (she/they) is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They obtained their Master’s Degree in Social Work from Utah Valley University, where they studied how to best support clients from various backgrounds. She believes in providing trauma-informed care while acknowledging the reality of being a human in today’s climate. They are trained in EMDR and DBT, and are especially passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community. 

Kristen grew up in Nebraska and knows the importance of creating loving, supportive, and community-based spaces in places that aren’t viewed as queer. She knows firsthand that queer people have existed, and continue to exist, in areas where they are told they shouldn’t. Their goal is to empower clients to live authentically through a compassionate and client-led approach. 

While not being a therapist, Kristen enjoys spending time with loved ones, playing The Sims, and engaging with the local music scene.
